Where can I find a travel clinic near me in Bury, Greater Manchester?

As the weather drops colder, you may be looking to head off abroad in search of the sun. However, it is important to consider all necessary travel preparations before you go. This includes any travel vaccinations you may need, as well as Covid testing. You may be wondering, “where can I find a travel clinic near me in Bury, Greater Manchester?”. Pimhole Pharmacy is here to help you. We offer all the travel vaccinations, Covid testing and travel health advice you need to jet off.

Why do I need to visit a travel clinic near me in Bury, Greater Manchester?

When you are travelling abroad, your body is exposed to pathogens that it doesn’t have protection against. A lack of prior immunity can result in diseases such as yellow fever and typhoid. These diseases can sometimes be severe, and even deadly. That’s why getting the necessary vaccinations in advance of your trip is vital.

How do travel vaccines work?

Vaccines help your immune system learn how to create antibodies to protect you from diseases. All vaccines are thoroughly tested to ensure that they are safe, according to the guidelines set out by the MHRA. It is very important that you get the vaccine at least 21 days (or sometimes longer, depending on the destination) before you travel.

What vaccinations might I need before I jet off?

Cholera – For most travellers, the cholera vaccine is not routinely required

Meningococcal meningitis

– Measles, mumps & rubella (MMR)

Diphtheria

Yellow Fever

Hepatitis B – This is recommended when travelling to destinations where Hepatitis B is prevalent.

Hepatitis A – This is recommended for destinations where poor levels of hygiene and sanitation, as well as Hepatitis A, are common.

Rabies

Tick-borne encephalitis

Tuberculosis (TB)

Why do I need Covid travel testing?

Nowadays, it’s important to consider Covid testing as part of your usual travel preparations. Under the current Government guidelines, before you travel to England you must:

– Complete a passenger locator form 48 hours before you arrive

– Prebook a PCR test/s to be taken when you get to England

If you are fully vaccinated and returning from a green list country, you must take a test before day 2 after your arrival. Until your results come back, you must isolate.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you must take a Covid test in the 3 days before you travel to England. Additionally, you must take a day 2 and day 8 test on your return, as well as isolating for the full 10 days. You are also required to complete a passenger locator form.

You cannot use an NHS test for this test; you must use a private test provider.
