Blister Packs (NHS)
What is a Blister Pack?
Blister packs — also known as monitored dosage systems, dosette boxes, or medication trays — are sealed medication organisers that allow the pharmacy to arrange a patient’s medicines according to the correct day and time they need to be taken.
At present, many local community pharmacies are oversubscribed and unable to accept new patients for blister packs. Some are gradually withdrawing the service, meaning we are unable to set up new blister packs for your medication.
It’s important to note that blister packs are not always the most appropriate option for supporting medication compliance. A medical professional should assess your medicines first to ensure they are safe and suitable to be dispensed in this format.
How Is a Blister Pack Organised?
Your medicines are arranged clearly and safely to help you take the right tablets at the right time.
- Tablets are organised into four weekly trays, covering a full 28-day cycle
- Each week is divided into daily sections for easy guidance
- Each day is split into Morning, Lunchtime, Evening, and Bedtime slots
- Medications are placed into the correct time slot based on your GP’s instructions
- Our pharmacy team manages and prepares your prescriptions every month for your convenience
